When I first received an email from Jean & Nic about traveling with them for an intimate wedding on Pigeon Island in St.Lucia, I thought I must be dreaming. We met over Skype and they told me about how they wanted to have a very small wedding in the stone ruins of this island, followed by a simple dinner at local restaurant and lots of dancing. Obviously I jumped at the chance to work with them! Over the next few months we talked, and they filled me in on all of their plans. I flew in for the week along with my second shooter, and spent the first evening hanging out with the bride and groom and their friends and family at the hotel pool, then out for a big group dinner. The next day the best man had rented a car and took us for a little road trip so we could do an engagement session. You can see those photos here.
I knew from the first meeting with these two that we would be friends. They are a Toronto couple who loves to travel, and wanted an off resort wedding to give their family and friends a small taste of the travel they experience all the time. They told me that each year they want to travel to a new country and renew their vows. I jokingly told them they should take me with them each year, turns out it may not have been a total joke (more news on that soon). Their whole wedding day, although the hottest wedding I have ever shot, went so smoothly. It was a wonderful, emotional, calm, happy wedding that ended with one of the craziest dance parties I have ever been too. I can’t wait to spend more time with these two somewhere else in the world in the near future!
