I am finally starting to get around to blogging some of my favourite weddings from last year. This wedding held at the Sucrerie De La Montagne Wedding, Quebec was incredibly unique. This is the first email I received from Anya and Brad and I knew right away that I wanted to be able to capture such a wedding.
“My fiancé and I are getting married in October 2015 at the Sucrerie de la Montagne in Rigaud, QC. It should be pretty great – live folk music, a toast with viking horns and a bonfire to boot. After dating for five years and being engaged for 2 of those, our families are pretty stoked about finally celebrating!”
When we arrived to this little sugar shack on a cold rainy day in the fall we were greeted with friendship and smiles. I myself was over the moon excited because I knew the groom had rented a live owl and hawk for the portrait session. We headed outside and learned how to hold and stand with the live birds, the light was perfect, the couple was so cool, and there were LIVE BIRDS in the photos!! Seeing as I get giddy when I see any animal, this was one of the best days ever!
After the photo session we headed inside for a candlelit ceremony and reception with a live folk band and lots of dancing. I loved this wedding so much it was hard for me to leave at the end of the night, I just wanted to stay and take it all in for as long as I could. It was one of my last weddings of the season and it has left a long lasting impression on me.
Anya and Brad, you guys are crazy cool and I am so so happy that you invited me to capture your day!
