Beautiful light is something that occupies a lot of my brain. How to use it, when is the best time of day, what direction, how soft, or how hard, reflections, catchlights… all these thoughts are going through my head at all times when I’m shooting.
One of my favorite ways to use light is from a single window. So often I show up to weddings or family sessions and the hotel room or the house is messy and busy. It’s always so fun to work my magic and show people how with just the way I position them and expose the light on their faces, that I can make the messiness of a room just disappear. The result of shooting this way results in a dramatic, moody image with a quality of light that I am obsessed with.
These images I’ve posted are a collection of captures from the last couple years, all using this exact type of light and way of shooting.

Hi friends… it’s been a while since I posted. I’ve had a busy couple weeks full of travel and friends. I’m feeling super motivated and excited to get back into work. I have so many fun and beautiful shoots coming up that I can’t wait for. I can feel spring in the air and spring always brings me a million ideas and so much focus. Who else is ready for winter to be done?

Just over 6 years ago I met this handsome guy, just a few days after he moved to the Peterborough area all the way from Mexico. I got to be his first Canadian friend! Our friendship has grown so much over the years, and I feel pretty lucky to have him in my life. He’s ridiculously talented and one of the funniest people I have ever met. And tonight… we get to fly to Costa Rica together! I’m so excited to go an adventure together, I know it will be nothing but good times.

In 5 days I’m heading down to Costa Rica to spen

In 5 days I’m heading down to Costa Rica to spend time with some amazing people, and it got me thinking about how many cool trips I’ve been able to take over the years to document so many cool people and their adventures!
I can’t wait to start shooting more destination weddings again. There is something so magical about exploring new places with new people, it fuels my creative side like nothing else does.
